Men's Breakfast

7:30 a.m. the fourth Sunday of the month ? next Jan. 22 ? at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 8360 Fox River Road. Each month includes a speaker who presents on topics of interest to the community. Past topics have included taxes, senior citizen programs, political perspectives and conservation issues. Admission is free. This will be the last Men's Breakfast until the fall. Breakfast Buffet

8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Plano American Legion Post 395, 510 E. Dearborn St.Sons of the American Legion will serve the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet featuring scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, pancakes and made-to-order omelets. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for ages 11 and younger.

New Life for Old Bags

10:30 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month ? next, Jan. 14 ? at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St.Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Soup's On Fundraiser

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Sandwich VFW Post 1486, 713 S. Main St.The Auxiliary will serve a variety of homemade soups, as well as chili, with a dinner roll and dessert. Tickets cost $5 for a large size container of soup. Funds raised will be used for the Auxiliary's veteran and troop support projects. Open to the public.

E-Waste Collection

Ice Fishing Program

1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Robert W. Rowe Public Library, 120 E. Si Johnson Ave. Members of the Lake Holiday Fishing Club will discuss the basic skills of ice fishing such as rigging, using a tip-up, working a jigging rod, selecting bait and lures and using an auger to bore a fishing hole. Creating a Miniature Fairy Garden

6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 25, at Robert W. Rowe Public Library, 120 E. Si Johnson Ave. Interactive fairy gardens are a magical space for children to play and a lovely addition to any garden. Our Sharing Pantry

?4 to 6 p.m. the third Monday of each month ? next, Jan. 16 ? and 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursdays at St. John's Lutheran Church, 235 S. Green St. Doors open 15 minutes before distribution begins. The pantry is closed on holidays. Our Sharing Pantry provides free food to low-income families living in Sandwich, Somonauk and Leland. 'Murder at the Millhurst'
